New England Regional Director
Shaina Wasserman came to J Street from the world of Jewish education. Most recently, Shaina was the Project Manager for Congregational Learning at The Jewish Education Project (formerly the BJE) in New York. She oversaw the organizational change process for over 50 congregations. Previously, Shaina served as an Education Director and Community Organizer at Congregation Beth Am in Northern California, worked the Progressive Jewish Alliance, and at the Jewish Federation in Chicago. She has professional and volunteer experience in faith based community organizing, Israel advocacy, and fundraising. Shaina wrote a curriculum for teens and adults entitled: My Israel: A Non-Traditional Approach to Israel Advocacy. She holds a Joint Masters Degree in Jewish Non-Profit Management and Jewish Education and from HUC-JIR in Los Angeles. She received her B.A. in History and in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University. Shaina grew up in Habonim Dror and has been a long time supporter of a two-state solution. A.D. Gordon is her favorite early Zionist thinker.
