J Street Condemns Iranian President Ahmadinejad

September 23, 2010

J Street President Jeremy Ben-Ami released the following statement after Iranian President Ahmadinejad’s remarks at the United Nations General Assembly:

J Street reiterates its strong condemnation of Iranian President Ahmadinejad’s anti-Israel and anti-Semitic rhetoric and virulent Holocaust denial, as well as his regime’s flagrant human rights violations and support for terrorist groups. With his vile rhetoric and outlandish conspiracy theories on display at this week’s UN General Assembly, we urge the international community to denounce President Ahmadinejad and make clear that these views have no place in the community of nations. T

hese views and actions also underscore the importance of a united international community in preventing the possibility of an Iran with nuclear weapons. J Street is strongly supportive of President Obama’s comprehensive, multilateral approach that couples diplomatic engagement with international sanctions in order to ensure that this regime does not obtain nuclear weapons. We believe that an Iran with nuclear weapons would pose a threat to Israeli and American interests, as well as to Middle East peace and stability at this critical moment.
