Jeremy Ben-Ami, J Street Executive Director, released the following statement as the House Appropriations Committee prepares for tomorrow’s full committee markup of the FY2009 Supplemental Appropriations Bill:
J Street reiterates its strong support for the $865 million Palestinian aid package included in the FY2009 Supplemental Appropriations bill.
We urge the House Appropriations Committee to reject numerous ongoing efforts to undermine President Obama’s Middle East agenda by altering the Supplemental, and approve the bill as originally requested by the President and submitted by Chairman Obey. We also call on the full House to speedily pass the legislation when it comes to the floor next week.
