The decision by the Board of the City University of New York to grant an honorary degree to Tony Kushner is a victory for all of those in the Jewish community and beyond who cherish freedom of speech and are unwilling to punish people for the content of their political views.

J Street and J Street U strongly objects to a decision by the City University of New York Board of Trustees to revoke an honorary degree to playwright Tony Kushner, a decision based purely on his views on Israel.

Tell Obama: Go to Jerusalem

J Street is calling on President Obama to visit Jerusalem in the coming months with a new diplomatic initiative that leads to a two-state solution and averts a September UN vote that will cause even deeper international isolation for Israel without solving the conflict.

J Street at Knesset: Don’t Push Away Your Friends

J Street President Jeremy Ben-Ami and Board Chair Davidi Gilo addressed an unprecedented Knesset committee meeting convened to look into the question of whether the American organization is sufficiently “committed” to Israel. He called on the Israeli Government to accept the pro-Israel, pro-peace movement as allies or risk alienating a significant part of American Jewry. A number of current and former members of Knesset strongly defended J Street.
