Vice President of Communications

Jennifer joined J Street in the summer of 2024, following a long and winding career spanning cultures, countries and continents. Over the past 20 years, she has designed and delivered advocacy-driven communications strategies to effect social and policy change, including a three-year stint immersed in the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Jennifer earned a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School for international and public affairs. But her real education is rooted in the on-the-ground experiences. She has led media engagement and awareness campaigns covering a wide range of issues, from humanitarian crises in Darfur and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to women’s rights in India and Iraq, among many others.

From 2000-2003, Jennifer was a public information officer and spokeswoman for the United Nations World Food Program in Africa and Afghanistan, followed by several years working on-and-off as a UN consultant and freelance journalist based in Johannesburg and New York. After publishing a biography (Simon & Schuster, 2006) about a pioneering Washington, DC-based advocate for civilians affected by US warfare, Jennifer headed up Oxfam’s media and communications work in the Middle East and the former Soviet republics.

Her job with Oxfam meant frequent trips to Israel, Gaza and the West Bank. She worked alongside both Israeli and Palestinian civil society promoting policies supporting basic human dignity and rights. It was during this period that Jennifer first encountered J Street. She has been an unwavering supporter of its vision and mission ever since.

In 2012, Jennifer packed up her bags and moved back to the US. For much of the past 10 years, she has led communications and advocacy teams for mission-driven organizations taking on some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Although she always keeps her passport close by, these days Jennifer seeks out adventure closer to home. She can often be found in a helmet and a harness, clinging precariously to the side of a rock face not far from Washington, DC.
