Assistant Director of Public Affairs
Laura joins J Street after having spent much of her career in the government and diplomatic arenas. Her professional experience includes the City of Seattle, the British Embassy Washington, the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Committee, where she was the Associate Director of First Family Inaugural Planning and Presidential Scheduler, and the Obama for America 2012 campaign where she scheduled for President Obama and working for Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA). In 2017/2018 she was awarded and completed a Robert Schuman Traineeship with the European Parliament in the Secretariat of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) in Brussels, Belgium, where she supported the files on the Middle East Peace Process and EU relations with UNWRA, the Gulf Region, combatting the financing of Jihadist terror among other issues. Laura holds an advanced MSc in European Integration, specializing in security and migration policy at the Institute for European Studies, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and a MA from James Madison University in European Union Policy Studies, where she wrote her thesis, “A Comparative Analysis of the of European Union Training Missions in Mali and Somalia: Operational, Institutional and Cross-Sectoral Issues in CSDP” and presented a policy analysis of “The 2016 ‘Winter Package’ on European Security and Defence”. She completed her BA in Political Science from Seattle University. Laura currently lives in Washington, DC, but still claims Seattle as home. She speaks French, Italian, and a smattering of other languages.
