Where and when is the J Street conference?

J Street’s 2021 National Conference will take place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, located at 2500 Calvert Street, NW Washington, DC 20008. The conference will begin on February 20, 2021 and end after lobbying appointments on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

Where will opening night take place?

Opening Night of the conference, Saturday, February 20, will also take place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Please continue to check the J Street conference website for further information on the exact timing of Opening Night.

How do I receive my badge?

Conference bags and badges can be picked up throughout the day on Saturday, February 20 and will be available throughout the conference. Please continue to check the J Street conference website for exact timing.

What is the dress code?

Attire for Saturday, Sunday and Monday afternoon is business casual. Cocktail or business attire is appropriate for the gala on Monday evening. Business attire is appropriate for lobbying appointments on Tuesday.

How much do tickets cost? What is included in each conference ticket option?

All conference tickets include access to all programming (except the gala dinner) and optional attendance at Advocacy Day. Breakfast on Sunday and Monday are also included. Gala tickets include admission to the gala dinner on Monday, February 22 and optional Advocacy Day attendance at no extra cost.

Student Conference ticket ($36)

Student ticket includes conference ONLY. Students may attend Advocacy Day at no additional cost. Students may also purchase $100 Student Gala ticket if they so desire. Students should contact their J Street U organizers if they are interested in attending the gala dinner. More information can be found here.

Reduced Rate Conference Only ticket (flexible options available)

Can I alter my registration information after registering for the conference?

Yes. In the confirmation email, there will be a confirmation code that will allow you to alter your registration information after you have already registered.

Is my conference and/or gala ticket refundable?

All requests for cancellation of a registration must be received in writing at Any cancellation requests after January 31, 2021 will receive no money back.

Travel and accommodations

How do I get to the Omni Shoreham?

DC has a great public transportation system, and the Omni Shoreham is directly accessible from the Red Metro line. For more information, please click here.

Where should I stay?

A discounted hotel block has been reserved at the Omni Shoreham. Rooms can be booked here.

What’s the parking situation?

The Omni Shoreham Hotel offers valet parking only, which includes in/out privileges. The price is $55 per car daily and is inclusive of tax.

When should I book my return flight?

For those conference attendees participating in National Advocacy Day, meetings should end by 4pm on Tuesday, February 23. We recommend that Advocacy Day participants book their return flights no earlier than 6pm on February 23 if leaving from DCA airport (participants traveling from BWI or IAD should consider later flights). All other attendees should depart as their schedule allows. For those not participating in Advocacy Day, conference activities will end on Monday night, February 22, and attendees should depart as their schedule allows.

Are travel stipends available to subsidize the cost of getting to the conference?

Are there accommodations available at a lower price point than those of the J Street hotel blocks?

Other hotels in the area of the Omni Shoreham are available. The Omni Shoreham is located at 2500 Calvert St NW, Washington, DC 20008, near the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Metro station on the Red Line. There are many hotels and hostels within Metro distance of the Omni Shoreham, so we suggest exploring your options online to find an option at your price point.

What are my options for meals, snacks and beverages within and around the Omni Shoreham?

Conference tickets include breakfast buffets (pastries, bagels, fruit) before the first sessions begin on Sunday and Monday. Gala tickets include the pre-gala reception (beverages and light hors d’oeuvres) and full dinner service (Kosher, vegan and vegetarian options are available), including wine pairings. No other food is provided as part of the ticket.

There will be food kiosks for lunch available at the Omni Shoreham outside session rooms, where attendees are welcome to purchase food and beverages. Kosher sandwich options will be available. A guide for guests to nearby restaurants will be provided at the conference.

What are my options for Kosher meals within and around the Omni Shoreham?

The Kosher restaurants in downtown Washington are Char Bar (by Washington Circle) and Soupergirl (West End and Dupont Circle).

Kosher sandwiches will be available at the lunch kiosks, and kosher food is available at the J Street Gala Dinner upon request.

Conference Program Questions

Who will be speaking at the conference this year?

Speaker information is often not available until closer to the conference date. The speaker list will be updated regularly.

What is the Gala Dinner?

The J Street Gala Dinner is the signature fundraising event for the J Street Education Fund (the nonprofit arm of J Street). The formal dinner will feature a special keynote address celebrating our accomplishments of the last year and honoring those leaders who continue to make an impact on our mission.

The gala dinner is a crucial component of annual fundraising for the Education Fund, and we encourage all able J Street supporters to consider contributing by sponsoring a table at the gala. Sponsorship makes it possible for our student activists to attend the conference.

J Street’s field operation, student movement (J Street U), Israel Program, congressional and other leadership missions and Rabbinic and Cantorial Cabinet, as well as all of J Street’s educational programming, all comprise J Street Education Fund.

Who should attend the Gala Dinner?

All conference attendees and J Street supporters are encouraged to purchase tickets to attend the gala dinner.

What does a gala ticket include?

Included in your gala ticket is a multi-course dinner service (with different dietary options available), wine pairings and admission to the pre-gala reception, where beverages and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. Tickets are available here.

At what time does National Advocacy Day end on February 23?

All conference participants are encouraged to join National Advocacy Day meetings on Tuesday, February 23. This is a critical opportunity for our participants to demonstrate constituent support in person to a large number of members of Congress. Exact meeting times and participants will likely not be confirmed until immediately prior to the conference, so we encourage all Advocacy Day participants to plan to join meetings for the entire day on February 23, from 8am to 4pm.

When registering for the conference, you will be asked if you plan to join Advocacy Day. Please note that registration for Advocacy Day will close two weeks before the conference.

Where can I store my bags during National Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill?

Luggage storage will be available for leaders only from 8am to 4:30pm on Tuesday, February 23. Details will be made available closer to the conference.

Student questions

How much does student housing cost?

Student housing is available for $15 per night to all students for Saturday, February 20 and Sunday, February 21. Housing for Friday, February 19, is available for students attending the Shabbaton. Housing for Monday, February 22, is available for students who are attending Advocacy Day. Housing may be purchased through registration. Can I sign up for student housing after registering earlier for the conference? Can I be refunded for student housing if I realize I no longer need it?

Yes, you may sign up for student housing after processing a registration. In this case, you’ll need to email to alter your registration.

The registration refund policy applies to all items purchased as part of registration, including housing.

Where are students housed during the conference?

Students will be housed at one of several hostels and hotels in the area of the Omni Shoreham. J Street U is not able to accommodate requests for placement at any particular hostel. Housing assignments will be communicated to students prior to their travel to the conference. Students may need to make use of public transit to travel between their accommodations and the conference.
