Last week, President Trump discarded longstanding bipartisan US policy on the status of Jerusalem by recognizing it as Israel’s capital outside the context of a conflict-ending agreement between Israelis and Palestinians. He made the move with little concern for the nuances of the issue, recklessly ignoring the advice of his secretaries of defense and state. The president’s irresponsible decision has not gone unnoticed. American lawmakers, experts, Jewish organizations and leaders across the world have raised their voices and expressed concern with this move.
