The Most Important Decision for Israel’s Future, Word on the Street
J Street Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer Ilan Goldenberg writes, “Imagine if progressives and moderate Democratic members in the U.S. House of Representatives decided they wouldn’t caucus together anymore because the disagreements were too sharp. Maybe just 50 of the most progressive members of the House would essentially stand aside. In that world you could just end up with Mike Johnson as the Speaker of the House in perpetuity. That would be insane. […] And yet that is exactly the logic Israel’s opposition is following.”

Former Director for Iran at the National Security Council Nate Swanson writes, “At this moment, there’s no clarity on whether the United States will strike, what in Iran it would strike, or what might follow. Trump’s Board of Peace Promises Billions for Gaza, With Few Details, New York Times
Michael Crowley writes, “The foreign leaders who spoke at the event mixed praise for Mr. Trump with talk of Gaza’s bright future. But the juxtaposition of eye-popping dollar figures and thin policy details was conspicuous. Hamas has still not agreed to disarm, and Israel still occupies much of the devastated territory, which by some estimates will cost $70 billion to rebuild. The promises of money and peacekeepers came with few specifics or timetables.”
Trump Brags About Middle East Peace. Israel’s Grip on the West Bank Stands in the Way, Haaretz
The Haaretz Editorial Board writes, “The pressure from these countries, combined with your [President Trump] determination, led to the best process for Israel: a cease-fire, which, on a path filled with potholes, is likely to eventually lead to what you’ve been talking about in recent months, but which Israelis and Palestinians have stopped believing in: peace in the Middle East. But this peace won’t arrive if the Israeli government’s vision of annexation nears implementation.”
