J Street Alarmed by Violent Protests in Montreal

November 25, 2024

J Street is deeply alarmed by violent protests in Montreal this weekend, where authorities report that anti-NATO, pro-Palestinian protesters smashed windows, assaulted police officers, set off smoke bombs and burned an effigy of Prime Minister Netanyahu.

While J Street firmly supports the right to peaceful protest, the instances of rank antisemitism and violence in Montreal are beyond the pale and must be condemned. Such violence and destruction do little to further the legitimate cause of the Palestinian people.
