J Street Strongly Urges Cosponsorship and Passage of US-Israel Strategic Partnership Act of 2014

July 28, 2014

J Street strongly supports the United States-Israel Strategic Partnership Act of 2014 re-introduced today by Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Roy Blunt (R-MO). J Street urges Senators to cosponsor the bill and work toward its quick passage.

J Street supported the bill’s House companion (H.R. 938) and the United States-Israel Enhanced cooperation Act of 2012, which the present bill strengthens. Like the House version, the Senate bill reaffirms support for the enhancement of Israel’s defensive and deterrent capabilities, cyber security and energy cooperation, and support for Israel in reaching a negotiated political settlement with the Palestinians that results in two states.

“The US-Israel Strategic Partnership Act has garnered strong bipartisan support–a rarity in this Congress,” said J Street Director of Government Affairs Dylan Williams. “It enhances American and Israeli security, as well as the prospects for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Senate should work toward its passage without delay or obstruction by those seeking to attach nongermane measures.”
