Statement on Iranian Leaders’ Anti-Israel Remarks

J Street condemns in the strongest possible terms the latest vile anti-Israel statements made by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. This latest incidence of hate speech is utterly shameful and is being rightly condemned by the international community.

While we do not believe they are representative of the views of the Iranian people at large, these slanders again raise the most serious concerns about the motivations and intentions of Iran’s leaders regarding Israel, especially in light of Iran’s nuclear program. Such indefensible comments underscore the importance to Israeli security and regional stability of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
