J Street is proud to endorse former US Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn in the Democratic Primary for Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District. Officer Dunn ran toward danger on January 6 to defend our democracy as more than a thousand violent, anti-democratic MAGA extremists descended on the Capitol.
“Officer Dunn defended our democratic values on January 6 and we know he’ll defend them in Congress. We’re committed to electing strong pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy candidates and pushing back against MAGA extremism, and we know Harry Dunn will fight proudly for our values,” said J Street President Jeremy Ben-Ami. “As a liberal pro-Israel group that also cares deeply about our democracy, we also think it’s important to make our voice heard as we push back against a flood of right-wing dark money in this race under a supposedly ‘pro-Israel’ banner.”
United Democracy Project – a super PAC affiliated with AIPAC and funded in large part by Republican mega-donors – is projected to spend upwards of $3.5 million for one of Dunn’s opponents. AIPAC itself has endorsed over 100 candidates who voted to overturn the 2020 presidential election results on January 6.

As money from anti-democracy Republican donors floods my race, it’s more important than ever for pro-democracy Democrats to stand together and tell these extremists they can’t buy this Congressional seat,” said Harry Dunn. “When I get to Congress, I’ll be honored to fight with J Street to support the shared democratic values at the heart of the US-Israel relationship, build on the Biden administration’s leadership toward peace, and secure a better future for Israelis and Palestinians alike.”
In 2022, JStreetPAC raised more than $9 million to elect pro-Israel, pro-democracy, and pro-peace Democrats and defeat MAGA candidates up and down the ballot. This year, JStreetPAC aims to raise over $10 million to elect endorsees like President Biden and Harry Dunn and defeat Donald Trump and his MAGA allies once again.
Dunn has garnered wide support from across Maryland and the country, with more than 5,000 individual donors just in Maryland averaging under $26.50 per donation.
He has received the endorsement of End Citizens United and Vote Vets PAC. Dunn has also been endorsed by former Maryland Democratic Party Chair, Susie Turnbull and Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando, as well as numerous members of Congress, including Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (CA-11), Congressman Jim Clyburn (SC-06), Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10), Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32), Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-14), Congressman Adam Schiff (CA-30), Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (MO-05), Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03), Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), and Congressman Bennie Thompson (MS-02).
