This agreement represents an important step towards disarming Hamas, establishing alternative Palestinian governance and security mechanisms in Gaza and bringing about Israel’s full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

This is the direct and inevitable result of a government that has systematically inflamed tensions, empowered extremists, and allowed a culture of lawlessness.

Today's vote reflects the emerging consensus in the Party – the debate will no longer be about whether U.S. policy should change, but rather how it must change.

The amendment is poorly drafted, overly broad and being used by Republican leadership to divide Democrats rather than advance a serious debate about US policy.
