Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which J Street, the J Street Education Fund, Inc., and JStreetPAC (collectively, the "J Street Entities") collect, use, maintain, and disclose information collected from users ("You" or "Users") of their websites, including those located at https://jstreet.org/ and http://jstreetpac.org/ (individually, the "Website" and collectively, the "Websites").
The Types of Information the J Street Entities Collect
Non-personally identifiable information. The J Street Entities may collect information about you whenever you visit any of their Websites, including your IP address, browser and operating system type, the date and time of your visit, the referring site, and which pages you viewed. Some laws, including certain state privacy laws, treat identifiers like IP addresses as personal information; we address your rights regarding this information below under "Your Privacy Rights and Choices."
Cookies and similar technologies. The J Street Entities use cookies and similar technologies for several purposes, including:
- Analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager) — to understand aggregate traffic and usage patterns.
- Session recording and heatmaps (e.g., Hotjar) — to see how visitors interact with pages so we can improve the Websites' design and usability. These tools can capture individual browsing sessions (such as mouse movement, clicks, and scrolling) rather than only aggregate statistics.
- A/B testing and experimentation (e.g., VWO) — to test different versions of pages.
- Advertising and retargeting (e.g., Meta/Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag) — to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to show you relevant ads on other websites and platforms.
This list reflects the categories of tools in use as of the date above and may change as our vendors change; the categories above will remain accurate even if specific tool names change. You may set your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are sent; some parts of the Websites may not function properly if you do so.
Personally identifiable information. The J Street Entities collect personal information such as names, email addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and payment information when you voluntarily provide it — for example, when you join our email list, register for an event, sign up for text alerts, or make a donation.
How the J Street Entities Use Information
The J Street Entities use your information to operate and improve the Websites, and for the purpose for which you provided it — for example, to add you to our email list, register you for an event, process a donation, or send you text alerts you signed up for. If you provide an email address, we will add you to our email list and you will receive communications from us unless you opt out. To stop receiving emails, follow the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, or email us at info@jstreet.org.
Text Messaging Communications
If you provide your mobile phone number to the J Street Entities — including by signing up for text alerts or otherwise providing your number in connection with supporting our advocacy work — you consent to receive text messages from us related to that purpose, which may include advocacy action alerts, event reminders, and fundraising messages. You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP.
How the J Street Entities Protect Your Information
The J Street Entities adopt reasonable data collection, storage, and security practices designed to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, but we cannot guarantee that any information is 100% secure. Credit card information is not stored by the J Street Entities.
Sharing of Personal Information
The J Street Entities use third-party service providers to help operate the Websites and administer activities such as collecting donations and registering Users for events. These vendors may access User information only for the limited purpose for which it was provided, and are required to protect its confidentiality.
The J Street Entities also share personal information among themselves — that is, among J Street, the J Street Education Fund, Inc., and JStreetPAC. We may also share mailing addresses with other organizations that work on issues concerning Israel, or their vendors. If you would prefer that your mailing address not be shared with such organizations, you may opt out by emailing info@jstreet.org with the subject line "Do Not Share My Address." We may publicly disclose the names of donors who contributed $1,800 or more in a calendar year, unless the donor requests anonymity. We will disclose personal information when required by law — including FEC-required disclosures related to JStreetPAC contributions — or in the good-faith belief that doing so is necessary to comply with legal process or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the J Street Entities or others.
We may also share personal information in connection with a merger, sale of assets, financing, or acquisition, or with your consent, and we may share aggregated, de-identified demographic information with third parties.
Third-Party Websites
The Websites may link to third-party websites. The J Street Entities do not control and are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, which are governed by their own policies. This Privacy Policy covers only information collected through the J Street Entities' own Websites.
Global Privacy Control. [If implemented] Where required by applicable law, the J Street Entities will treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal received from your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
Children's Privacy
Consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, the J Street Entities do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and no part of the Websites is directed at children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from someone under 13, we will promptly delete it.
Your Privacy Rights and Choices
For all Users. Regardless of where you live, you may:
- Opt out of email communications at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP.
- Opt out of having your mailing address shared with allied organizations, as described above.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, subject to the exceptions described below.
Requesting access, correction, or deletion. You may submit a request by emailing privacy@jstreet.org . We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on a request. We aim to respond within 45 days; this may be extended once by an additional 45 days where reasonably necessary, and we will let you know if that occurs.
Exceptions to deletion. We are not able to delete certain records where retention is required by law or necessary for legitimate business, financial, or compliance purposes. In particular:
- JStreetPAC contribution records — including contributor name, address, occupation, and employer for contributions exceeding $200 — must be retained for a minimum of three years after the filing date of the related FEC report, as required by federal law (11 CFR 102.9(c)), and cannot be deleted or fully anonymized during that period.
- Financial, tax, and audit records held by J Street or the J Street Education Fund may be retained for the period required by applicable recordkeeping obligations.
Where full deletion isn't possible, we will remove your information from active marketing and communications and, where operationally feasible, de-identify or anonymize it while retaining the minimum information needed to satisfy the legal or financial obligation.
California residents. To the extent required by the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion or correction, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, to limit use of sensitive personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. J Street and the J Street Education Fund are nonprofit organizations, and certain state privacy laws contain exemptions for nonprofit entities; where such an exemption applies, the J Street Entities may nonetheless choose to honor the rights described in this section as a matter of policy. You may also request, once per calendar year, information about our disclosure of your personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes, by emailing info@jstreet.org.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, to comply with legal and financial recordkeeping obligations (including the FEC requirements applicable to JStreetPAC described above), and to maintain accurate records. Where retention is no longer necessary, we will delete or anonymize the information.
Do Not Track
The J Street Entities do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, other than as described above under "Global Privacy Control."
Changes to this Privacy Policy
The J Street Entities may update this Privacy Policy at any time; the date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Websites after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.
Your Acceptance of These Terms
By using any of the J Street Entities' Websites, you accept this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Websites.
