J Street Action Fund Launches Independent Expenditure Campaign in CA-11 Primary to Support Scott Wiener

May 21, 2026

Washington, DC – J Street Action Fund, the independent expenditure arm of the leading pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy group J Street, announced today a $60,000 ad campaign in support of California State Senator Scott Wiener in the competitive CA-11 primary to succeed J Street Champion Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi.

The ad highlights Scott Wiener’s record of fighting for San Franciscans and can be viewed on J Street’s YouTube channel here.

“Scott Wiener will be a powerful voice in Congress for Americans who believe Israelis and Palestinians alike deserve freedom, safety and equal rights,” said J Street’s Vice President of Political and Digital Strategy, Tali deGroot.

“He’s shown the courage to speak with moral clarity on some of the toughest issues facing our country and our community, while also delivering for Californians on the issues that matter most – from affordable housing to immigrant rights and protecting democracy itself. That combination is what makes a true champion in Congress, and we’re proud to support him in this race.”

Wiener served for more than five years as a leader of the California Legislative Jewish Caucus. Guided by his Jewish values and commitment to justice, he has been an outspoken critic of the Netanyahu government’s pursuit of endless war and occupation in Gaza and the West Bank, while remaining steadfast in his support for Israel’s long-term security and democratic future.

He has also championed nonprofit security funding to protect vulnerable communities and has emerged as a leading voice against the Trump Administration’s cynical weaponization of antisemitism to attack universities, academic freedom and scientific research.

The J Street Action Fund was created in 2022 to help counter harmful right-wing efforts to use Republican billionaire money to drive a wedge in Democratic primaries. JSAF is part of the organization’s larger effort to demonstrate that candidates who adopt principled positions on Israel/Palestine that line up with the views of the majority of American Jews can expect significant support.
