Joint Jewish Organizational Letter in Support of House and Senate Resolutions Opposing the Global BDS Movement

April 3, 2019

Dear Speaker Pelosi, Leader McConnell, Leader McCarthy and Leader Schumer:

We the undersigned organizations strongly encourage you to help pass the important bipartisan resolution recently introduced in the House by Representatives Brad Schneider, Jerrold Nadler, Lee Zeldin, and Ann Wagner (H.Res.246) and in the Senate by Senators Rob Portman and Ben Cardin (S.Res.120) expressing Congress’s overwhelming opposition on both sides of the aisle to the international movement to boycott, divest from, and sanction America’s crucial ally, the State of Israel.

This resolution also expresses timely Congressional support for a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that would result in two states – a democratic Jewish State of Israel, and a viable, democratic Palestinian state – living side-by-side in peace, security, and mutual recognition. At the same time, the resolution acknowledges the central importance of freedom of political expression, stating that “it is a hallmark of American democracy for citizens to petition the United States Government in favor of or against United States foreign policy.”

This resolution is an opportunity for Congress to make clear its opposition to the goals of the BDS movement and its commitment to a sustainable two-state solution. We urge Members of Congress to join together in a demonstration of broad bipartisan opposition to the BDS Movement.

Sincerely,

Ameinu
