Israel Accepted into OECD

May 11, 2010

Yesterday, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) unanimously accepted Israel’s application for membership to the exclusive organization of countries with prosperous, open economies. J Street welcomes this as a key step toward greater economic, social, and environmental coordination between Israel and the organization’s member countries. OECD membership rightfully acknowledges Israel’s myriad economic accomplishments, opens up new opportunities for growth and development, and should provide Israel important support in taking essential steps soon to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a two-state solution.
