J Street Applauds Israeli Cabinet Approval of Ghajar Withdrawal Plan

J Street Vice President for Policy and Strategy Hadar Susskind issued the following statement in response to the Israeli cabinet’s approval of a plan to withdraw from the the village of Ghajar on the Lebanese border:

J Street applauds the Israeli Security Cabinet’s approval of a plan to adhere to UN Security Council Resolutions 425 and 1701 and withdraw Israeli military forces from the village of Ghajar. This decision serves Israel’s long-term strategic interests and regional security, and is an important step toward a comprehensive peace agreement. We hope that Israel and the UN will move quickly to implement this proposal, and urge the Syrian and Lebanese governments to join Israel in fulfilling their obligations and adhering to the UN Security Council Resolutions.
