Washington — J Street is deeply moved by the release today of Israeli Staff Sergeant Gilad Shalit.
Along with Jews around the world, we celebrate the news that Staff Sergeant Shalit is now free and reunited with his family.
Many of us at J Street have met the Shalit family over the years and know first-hand the amazing efforts they have put into bringing about his release. The love and the commitment they have shown, and that have been shown to Gilad throughout the Jewish world, are reflective of the best of the Jewish people.
We wish Gilad and his family a wonderful reunion, a peaceful transition back to a normal life and a wonderful future together.
