J Street calls on Palestinian Authority President Abbas to strongly condemn acts of terror against Israelis.
We agree with the statements of Vice President Biden deploring not only the horrific attacks, but the failure of the Palestinian leadership to condemn them.
Statements by Palestinian media and officials that glorify these acts and praise the attackers are dangerous incitement. We urge President Abbas to act responsibly to curtail these incendiary statements, and to match the efforts of the PA security forces which continue to work closely with Israel to prevent and counter acts of terror.
We agree with the Vice President that this violence must end, and that “it cannot and will not be done just by physical force.” Leaders on both sides must pursue diplomatic solutions to the current crisis, and must lead responsibly by avoiding statements and actions that stoke the tensions.
