J Street Condemns Escalating Violence of Anti-American Protests

September 13, 2012

J Street condemns the escalating violence of anti-American protests in Egypt, Yemen and Libya.

We find the film “Innocence of Muslims” to be gravely offensive and its makers’ attempts to exploit volatile tensions in the Middle East to be morally reprehensible and dangerous. There is no place for such incitement or demonizing of another people’s religion.

Even as the film may have helped to inflame protesters, there is no justification for their violence and we condemn it unequivocally.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those lost and hurt in Tuesday’s attack in Benghazi.

We abhor any politicization of this ongoing sensitive situation.
