We are deeply saddened and concerned by this morning’s attack along the Israel-Lebanon border, which killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded seven. We also mourn the death of the Spanish UNFIL soldier who was reportedly killed in an Israeli retaliatory strike. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families at this difficult time.

Israel has been on high alert over the past week, following a strike on a Hezbollah convoy in Syria that was widely attributed to Israel although not confirmed. We condemn today’s attack and support Israel’s right to self-defense. We hope that all sides will work to de-escalate this dangerous situation.
