The new advertisement released yesterday by the group “Secure America Now” distorts facts regarding Iran and provides precisely the wrong prescription for American policy.
President Obama has repeatedly stated that he is not going to accept Iran having a nuclear weapon, and the United States is working actively to prevent Iran from reaching that goal.
This ad also misunderstands the concept of American strength, which is defined by far more than merely the use of force. The exercise of US leadership has always drawn on a full array of tools, including sanctions and diplomacy.
The security cooperation between the US and Israel is stronger than ever, as are multilateral and unilateral sanctions on Iran. To question the commitment of the president to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons–in the face of such unprecedented assistance and action–defies credulity.
