Our CandidateTina Smith is the junior Senator from Minnesota and has worked with and served the people of Minnesota for the last 30 years. Prior to her appointment to the U.S. Senate in January 2018, Sen. Smith served as the Minnesota Lieutenant Governor. She is currently running in the special election to fill the remainder of the term for the Senate seat she was appointed to fill in January 2018, and she faces Republican state Senator Karin Housley in that race.

The district: Minnesota’s 1st congressional district (MN-01) extends along the southern border of the state and includes many of the state’s mid-sized cities. The district has been represented by JStreetPAC endorsee Rep. Tim Walz since 2007. In March 2017, Rep. Walz announced that he would run for Governor of Minnesota in 2018, rather than seeking re-election for this Congressional seat.

Our candidate: Dan Feehan is an Army veteran who served two tours of duty in Iraq. After his military service, he served in the Obama administration as an acting Assistant Secretary of Defense, and he currently serves as an adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security. He has the endorsement of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor party and officially secured the Democratic nomination in August.
