NM-01
The district: New Mexico’s 1st congressional district (NM-01) is a central-New Mexico district based in Albuquerque and has been represented by JStreetPAC endorsee Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham since 2013. In December 2016, Congresswoman Lujan Grisham announced that she would compete in the 2018 gubernatorial contest in New Mexico, rather than seek reelection to her current seat.
Our Candidate: Deb Haaland emerged from a crowded primary field to become the Democratic nominee for New Mexico’s 1st congressional district (NM-01). She previously served as the New Mexico Democratic party chair during the 2016 election cycle, and she was the Democratic Lieutenant Governor nominee in 2014. If elected, she will be the first Native American woman to serve in Congress.
