As a large field of Democratic candidates competed to become the party’s presidential nominee against Trump, J Street established itself as the central address for candidates to discuss their visions for US foreign policy towards Israel and the Middle East. J Street partnered with Crooked Media, producers of the hugely popular Pod Save America and Pod Save the World, to host live foreign policy interviews at our National Conference with five leading presidential candidates, while also sharing taped video messages from five others.
The interviews garnered a major spotlight from national media and helped make clear J Street’s position as a major mainstream force in American politics. That significant impact was also on display in J Street’s campaign for upgrades to the Democratic Party platform, which helped result in the platform including — for the first time ever — opposition to settlement expansion and annexation and explicit support for Palestinian rights.
