Albright, Kaine to Keynote J Street Annual Gala Next Month

January 23, 2017

Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will be featured speakers at the gala on the final evening of the J Street 2017 National Conference in Washington, DC next month.

Sen. Kaine and Secretary Albright, who have long championed the cause of peace between Israel and the Palestinians through a two-state solution, will speak on the evening of Monday February 27 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

J Street’s sixth national conference is expected to be the largest yet for the organization, bringing more than 3,000 delegates together from around the nation and the world. Speakers will include senior Israeli and Palestinian policymakers and legislators, members of Congress, diplomats, analysts, experts and activists. Some 1,200 students belonging to J Street U, the organization’s campus arm, are expected to participate. J Street U is the fastest-growing pro-Israel organization on the US campus scene.

This will be the first major gathering within the American Jewish community since President Trump took office and will send a strong message of support for a diplomatic solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which can only be achieved through a two-state solution.

The conference will also be a show of support for the 2015 agreement on Iran’s nuclear program that has verifiably blocked each of Iran’s pathways to a nuclear weapon.

The conference begins Feb. 25 and will culminate with an advocacy day on Feb. 28, when J Street supporters will go to Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers.
