J Street Strongly Condemns Palestinian Incitement

April 9, 2010

J Street Executive Director Jeremy Ben-Ami released the following statement today strongly condemning Palestinian Authority incitement against Israel:

J Street strongly condemns the glorification of terrorists, continued incitement, and the denial of legitimate Jewish claims to Jewish areas of Jerusalem by the Palestinian Authority. Recent actions by the Palestinian Authority, including this week’s naming of a Ramallah street after Hamas terror mastermind Yihyeh Ayyash and inflammatory remarks from Palestinian officials regarding rehabilitation projects in the Jewish quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, hinder the Obama Administration’s efforts to achieve a two-state solution. We call on the Palestinian Authority to cease using incitement as a political tool and applaud US efforts to hold all sides accountable for counterproductive actions. We also urge that issues such as this not be used as an excuse to stop the U.S. and the parties from immediately pursuing a two-state resolution to the larger conflict.
