At the RNC in Cleveland, the GOP’s platform officially walked away from the decades-long bipartisan consensus on the two-state solution. That consensus is a also a mainstay of the pro-Israel movement that prominent organizations — including AIPAC — have long supported. But AIPAC responded to the GOP’s abandonment of a two-state solution by ignoring it and praising the platform’s “strong support for Israel.” A two-state solution is more than just a talking point — it’s essential to Israel’s future and its relationship with the United States.
