“We used to take refugees because they were Jewish. Now we take them because we’re Jewish.”

These are the words of Mark Hetfield, President and CEO of HIAS. Few organizations have been more visible or vocal in the campaign against the anti-refugee measures President Trump has implemented (or attempted to implement) in his first 100 days.

Following Passover, when we’re reminded to “care for the stranger, as we were strangers in the land of Egypt,” we were pleased to host to a special conference call with Mr. Hetfield on what we can do to support refugees.

We also discussed the state of judicial proceedings against Trump’s immigration measures and the impact of these policies on America’s international reputation and national security.
