North Carolina

NC-09

The district: North Carolina’s 9th Congressional district (NC-09) is in south-central North Carolina. Republican incumbent Rep. Robert Pittenger was recently defeated in the primary by pastor Mark Harris, so Harris and Dan McCready will face off in November for this open seat. Although a Democrat hasn’t represented this seat in 58 years, Democratic turnout surpassed Republican turnout in this year’s primaries, even as both parties had contested primary elections, suggesting that this seat will have a competitive general election.

Our candidate: Dan McCready is a Marine Corps veteran running to represent North Carolina’s 9th congressional district (NC-09). After his military service, McCready started a company dedicated to creating solar farms in North Carolina and played a large role in building North Carolina’s solar energy capacity.
