The Forbidden Conversation

A personal journey into the past and future exploring the difficulty of talking openly about Israel in the American Jewish community.

Join us as actor, photographer and playwright Gili Getz presents a one-man performance exploring his journey into the conversation about Israel in the American Jewish community. On a recent trip to Israel, Gili experienced difficulty talking about Israel with his father for the first time in his life. Finding himself in a “forbidden conversation” and trying to grapple with how he got there, Gili embarked on a journey into the most complex, sensitive and contentious topic in the Jewish community.

The 25 minute performance will be followed by a salon-style discussion about how to civilly and productively navigate the challenging conversations we have with family, friends and our community concerning Israel and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
