J Street is appalled and saddened by a Palestinian gunman’s terror attack today on a Dizengoff Street cafe in the heart of Tel Aviv, in which the terrorist seriously wounded three young Israelis. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims as we hope for the recovery of the injured.
The attacker, who was killed at the scene, is reportedly a member of Hamas. This is just the latest horrifying terror attack to wound and kill Israeli civilians in recent weeks – and it took place in one of the most crowded and popular areas of the entire country. Acts of terror are completely unacceptable, and only lead to more pain, suffering and loss. They must be unequivocally condemned.
We remain extremely concerned by the terrible escalation in violence in Israel and the West Bank in recent weeks. While working to prevent further attacks and keep civilians safe, urgent steps must be taken to reduce tensions and prevent further violence and suffering.
