Location

The J Street Convention will take place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, located at 2500 Calvert St NW, Washington, DC 20008. The Convention will begin on Saturday, April 6 and end after lobbying appointments on Tuesday, April 9, 2024

What to Expect

The J Street Convention takes place approximately every 18 months and is the largest gathering of pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy activists in the United States. This year, our mission to create a better future for Israelis and Palestinians has become increasingly critical.

As we confront the full scope of Hamas’ heinous terror attack on October 7, 2023, the ensuing Israel-Hamas war and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and the general state of devastation for Israelis and Palestinians, our convention will serve as a gathering space to mourn and reflect, to ask difficult questions and chart a better, brighter path forward.

This year we will be offering unique programming that will better prepare J Street U students to excel in their advocacy work on their college campuses and in their local communities.

What are students responsible for and what is provided for students at Convention by J Street?

J Street does not provide meals during regular Convention programming. Students will be responsible for their own meals during the Convention. There will be affordable options for meals onsite at the Omni and a list of nearby restaurant options will be made available closer to the Convention start date.

J Street does not cover the cost of local transportation in Washington, DC. This also includes any transportation (including Ubers/Lyfts or public transportation) to and from airports or train stations while you are traveling.

J Street will provide Travel Stipends and Housing to all students who require them. See below for more information on Booking your Travel and Housing.

Booking Your Travel to the J Street Convention

After you have registered for the Convention you will be contacted by Joseph McGuire, a member of our Events Team, who will provide you with your travel stipends and instructions for booking your travel.

J Street U guarantees a 100% travel stipend on flights, trains, and gas over $50 to any student who registers through February 7 (but travel must be booked before Feb 14).

Students who register after February 7 will be offered a stipend based on a tiered system. This system is based on the estimated cost of your travel at the time of your registration and your distance from Washington, DC.

J Street U is committed to providing equitable opportunities for all students to come to our Convention. We are committed to making finances as little a burden as possible.

J Street U cannot commit to reimbursing travel, at any level after March 6. This applies only to flight and train travel, not cars.

Please do not book your travel before you have been contacted directly by Joseph McGuire.

Housing at Convention

J Street will provide housing to all students who require it at a highly subsidized rate. You do not need to book your own accommodations for the Convention.

When you have completed your registration for the Convention you will receive a confirmation email from Eventbrite. This confirmation email contains a link to our Housing and Student Shabbaton registration page, which you will use to purchase your housing accommodations. If you need to modify your housing accommodations after you have booked them, please contact Joseph McGuire at [email protected].

You will be provided with your housing information closer to the Convention dates.
