Breakouts:

  • On the Ground: Israeli and Palestinian Voices
    • Eleven months have passed since the Oct. 7 attacks and the war in Gaza began, and Israeli and Palestinian societies are still reeling from the ongoing trauma. And yet, in the shadow of grief, many Israeli and Palestinian leaders have doubled down in their pursuit of a shared society, a peaceful resolution to the conflict, and political change. Hear from Israeli and Palestinian leaders about their analysis of the current moment and visions for the future.
  • Growing our Pro-Israel, Pro-Palestinian, Pro-Peace Student Movement in a Post-October 7 Reality
    • This session will go in depth into how October 7 has impacted the lives of college students on college campuses across the United States, with an eye towards the year ahead. We will explore how J Street U is approaching campus tensions, combatting those seeking to spread antisemitism, and expanding the breadth and depth of their work to support students and build out the movement. The session will highlight present challenges and how we’re supporting students with the tools they need to stay true to their values in a fraught and challenging environment.
  • Countdown to November: The Final 50 Days of the 2024 Election Cycle
    • As the mainstream voice of Jewish Americans, J Street is all in on the fight to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and other pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy leaders up and down the ballot. The closer we get to the election, the faster the news cycle gets – it becomes harder to distinguish opinion from fact and easier to get swept up in the zeitgeist of the moment. With the House, Senate, and presidency all hanging in the balance, it is more important than ever to channel funds and organize effectively. Everycandidate wants you to believe that they will shift the balance. But which county, district, and state races matter most? How can we cut through the noise to make the biggest impact?
  • The State of the Middle East on the Cusp of the 2024 Election
    • With the US presidential election fast approaching, the fate of the Middle East hangs in the balance. President Biden inherited four years of regional diplomatic malpractice by the Trump Administration, including cutting aid to Palestinians, shutting down both the PLO office in DC, moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem, and accelerating Iran’s nuclear program by withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal. The Biden Administration restored diplomacy and responsible engagement, but fell short in fully repairing the damage of the Trump era. Since October 7, Israel has been embroiled in a devastating multifront conflict, while right-wing leaders have exploited the opportunity to deepen the occupation and annexation of Palestinian territory. Our panel of experts will discuss the current state of the Middle East from Tel Aviv to Tehran, the regional implications of a Trump or Harris presidency, and what the US should do to support peace, democracy and human rights across the region.
11:45am – 1pm

Lunch/Finance Committee Lunch

1:15 – 2:30pm

Breakouts:

  • J Street’s Policy Priorities: Interactive Session with Policy Director, Dr. Debra Shushan
    • With the catastrophic war in Gaza, the presidential election fast approaching, and the futures of both American and Israeli democracy on the line, J Street has many battles to fight and policy priorities to advance. This interactive policy session is designed to gather input and feedback from our leaders. It will kick off with former Congressman and J Street Board Member John Yarmuth joining Director of Policy Dr. Debra Shushan for a conversation on our current priorities, the process of crafting organizational policy, and the current temperature on our issues in Congress. The session will include ample time for feedback, suggestions, and discussion.
  • Conflict on the Campaign Trail: Israel-Palestine and the 2024 Elections
    • Israel-Palestine has always been a major flashpoint in American politics. However, over the past few years, the pressure and cash injections from right-wing groups focused on this issue have significantly ratcheted up in intensity and tempo. In 2022, AIPAC officially launched a PAC (AIPAC PAC) and an affiliated Super PAC (the United Democracy Project, or UDP). In 2024, the group spent tens of millions to oust progressives from Congress and prevent them from entering in the first place. In this session, we’ll explore a few key questions: What tangible impact do outside groups play in shaping a candidate’s policies? How does Israel-Palestine play out on the campaign trail? How do voters respond to messaging on this issue? Is there a “right” way to talk about Israel-Palestine, or is it best avoided altogether?
  • Communicating Our Movement’s Message
    • As we navigate fraught conversations surrounding the impending elections and the volatile situation in Israel, the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and the wider region, this session will give you the tools you need to effectively communicate our work to prospective leaders, Members of Congress and to your cousin at the Thanksgiving table. Join J Street President Jeremy Ben-Ami and our new Vice President of Communications Jen Abrahamson for a workshop on messaging guidance and a review of J Street’s most pressing priorities. Through a presentation, training session and interactive Q&A, Jeremy and Jen will help ensure that our movement projects a unified message at a pivotal moment for J Street, our country and everything we care about.
  • Rebuilding Gaza
    • The war in Gaza has wrought unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. With so much loss of life, destruction of homes and infrastructure, mass displacement, starvation and disease, it is difficult but essential to envision a “Day After” for Gaza. Our expert panelists will help us in this vital mission by tackling the questions: What is the current reality on the ground in Gaza? How can the Gaza Strip be reconstructed and rehabilitated after the cessation of the war? What political and policy hurdles stand in the way of plans to rebuild Gaza? What role should the US, Israel, Palestinians, the wider Arab world and the international community play in rebuilding Gaza?
2:45 – 4:15pm

Plenary: This Moment in the Region

As we approach a year since the October 7 attacks and the ensuing war in Gaza, it is time to take a step back and look at the devastating reality on the ground in Israel, Palestine, and across the region. Together, we’ll look toward the policies and leadership needed to move things forward in the right direction. Hear from Israeli policy experts on their vision for constructive Israeli foreign policy; from American policy experts about their recent visit to the region with the Len Hill Education Program; and from a Palestinian activist and visionary working to change the reality from the ground up.
